Dr. John A. White Honored by Virginia Tech

 Virginia Tech has announced its plan to induct John White, chancellor emeritus and Distinguished Professor of industrial engineering, into its Academy of Engineering Excellence. White received a master’s degree in industrial engineering from Virginia Tech, along with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Arkansas and a doctorate from Ohio State University.

White was chancellor of the University of Arkansas from 1997 until 2008. Prior to that, he served as dean of engineering at Georgia Tech. He has served two terms on the National Science Board, the policy-making arm of the National Science Foundation. He has also been the assistant director for engineering and acting deputy director for NSF. White is a member of the National Academy of Engineering, a past-president of the Institute of Industrial Engineers, and a past-chairman of the American Association of Engineering Societies, among many other positions and honors.
