Liao Named to White Endowed Chair

Haitao Liao was recently named the John and Mary Lib White Endowed Systems Integration Chair in the Industrial Engineering Department at the University of Arkansas.

Liao was the recipient of the 2017 Alan O. Plait Award for Tutorial Excellence awarded at the 2018 Annual Reliability and Maintainability Symposium (RAMS), the 2017 IISE William A.J. Golomski Best Paper Award, and was the 2017 recipient of the PHM-Harbin Best Paper Award. He has published 61 journal articles, 5 book chapters, and 50 conference papers.

His research interests include reliability models, applied statistics, maintenance and service logistics, prognostics, probabilistic risk assessment, and analytics of sensor data. His research has been sponsored by the National Science Foundation, Department of Energy, Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and various industry partners.

The findings of his group have been published in IISE Transactions, European Journal of Operational Research, Naval Research Logistics, IEEE Transactions on Reliability, IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics, IEEE Transactions on Automation Science and Engineering, The Engineering Economist, Reliability Engineering & System Safety, Annals of Operations Research and others.

Liao currently serves as an Associate Editor for IISE Transactions on Quality and Reliability Engineering and as Chair of Graduate Studies for the Department of Industrial Engineering.
